Headlamps 1996 to 2000

Can the headlamp housings from a 2000 be installed in a 1996. I would like to be able to use the one from a 2000 as I can get the clear lamp rather than the frosted style. If there is more to it let me know.

yes straight bolt on just make sure there oem not aftermarket

Yes you can, this has already been discussed(search is your friend) in 2309423948 other threads like HERE and HERE. The 1996-1998 4Runners had the frosted lens, the 1999-2002 have the clear lens headlights. As Elton said it is a direct bolt on. You can go with aftermarket if you want but they may not line up perfectly.
