Headlight adjustment

What is the easy/proper way to adjust the headlights down a bit? From the factory they have always seemed a bit high and I get flashed by other drivers now and then. I noticed during the state inspection they are above the crosshairs but they always pass it. Thanks!

If it's the LED (2020/2021+ I can't remember....) Take a medium/large Phillips screw driver and stick in into the headlights from top, you'll see the hole with gears in it.

Lefty moves the headlights up high, righty moves them lower. Think of it like opening a water valve for light in the opposite drivers eyes.

Back away 25' with headlights on low beam, your top of the headlight cutoff line should be 2 - 2 1/2" below the mark on the wall.
this should be done on a level surface.

Retrofit headlight adjustor motor

I'm too new to start a new thread, so will try here:

Has anyone tried to retrofit a powered headlight adjustor motor to a 5th gen? Just thinking that a switch or two inside the cabin to remotely adjust headlight height after throwing groceries in back to avoid constant bright flashing from annoyed oncoming drivers might be nice.

Lexus, Tacoma, others have the capability.

My issue is I have no level ground or wall near me.

My issue is I have no level ground or wall near me.

I've used a laser pointer aligned with the front and rear wheel centers to put left and right marks on a wall. Then I measure up the wall to headlight height.

I’ve never had luck using a wall. I got flashed a few times when my truck was new. When I checked them, they were pointed in the air.
I use a dark, flat street, there’s one conveniently in front of my house. I make sure the top of the beam eventually meets the road, about 200 ft ahead. I’ve never been flashed since and I’m happy with the lowbeam performance. Since I live in a rural area I constantly switch to highbeams when there is no oncoming traffic. Low beams are not intended be all you need. Oh, and I never use the driving lights on highways, lighting up the side of the road 20 feet ahead of you is just a distraction.

2021 Limited with LED headlamps - wondering if anyone has issue with a small shadow in the field of light from the headlamps. Small shadow on my drivers headlight when light cast down the road about 150 feet.

Two local Toyota dealers have looked at it and claimed no issue with shadows in headlight when cast on wall.

Anyone else have this issue?
