Headlight alignment after projector retrofit

For those of you with '10-'13s and put projectors in, how did you align your lights? I've cranked down on the 8mm bolt that changes the gears inside to align them, but I can't get them down far enough to get them close to the road. Anyone have a suggestion?

just completed the swap on mine, i found that the "wheel" with teeth that sits forward of the bolt moves the lamp up and down a lot faster than the actual bolt.

I think my issue is that i've reached as far as the alignment will allow for and I'm still WAY off. Just curious if I was missing something or if there was another way to to align them.

Did you do the retrofit yourself or did you have someone else do it? Typically you align* the projectors inside the housings before sealing them up. The housing adjustments are more or less for fine tuning.

I took it to a shop and had them do it.

They know what they are doing, without a doubt, but it was a mystery to them whey I was lighting up tree tops on my way home. I know they don't want to have to rebake them, but sorry guys, I can't drive the truck at night.

I plan on it. The owner of the shop did me a favor (i've had him tint 3 vehicles, replace all factory speakers in another), but I know he's going to hate having to rebake these. Dropping it off tomorrow and letting him do what he needs to do to get them in line by the end of the day.

The retrofitter should mount the (EDIT: halogen) headlight on a bench and mark the cutoff and the step on a wall before any work. Then aligns the new projector in the housing to those marks - before sealing it up.

Aside: Be aware if someone turns that adjusting screw too far it comes apart inside the headlight and pretty sure is not repairable.

Not sure, guess it has to. I do know that if you roll it too far you eff it up, and I'm pretty certain it's not fixable. Adjustment is only up/down, not L/R.

It only makes minor adjustment, and would not compensate a poorly aligned retrofit.
