Headlight film - recommendations?

I will not use it because i have read it is illegal in some states so you may check on that before doing it so you are in the safe spot, but here is what i will suggest you, get a custom headlights setup. I ordered mine from hidretrofitkit .Here is the ones i ordered so you can see you can get better looking and good lights without putting a film.

Had my wagon done in Xpel Ultimate+, have a lot to say (good and bad) about the entire process and the product but in terms of headlights, do it.

Xpel installers have the ability to plot your vehicle's panel (in this case your headlight lenses) and cut them precisely. The plotted pieces do not cover 100% because of the relief cuts necessary for proper fitment on our 4Runner headlights (and especially our front and rear bumpers too). The front bumpers of our 4Runners are 9 plotted/cut pieces, for instance... If you want 100% coverage it will require a "bulk" custom job and not sure that our lights can be done in one contiguous piece at all? Look into Suntek and 3M also. The technology has come a long way, yellowing and cracking is a thing of the past they say...

I recommend you do as much of your vehicle as you can afford and want protected. This stuff is not without it's special maintenance, etc. but it is amazing...

The guy I used to do the StealthShield on my 3 5th gen's has always done my headlights. the film is custom cut by a machine, and only uses one piece.
It does't wrap the whole housing, as it's not necessary.
But it covers the whole forward facing lens, and wraps around the bump out.

Sorry to hijack your post but I'm new to the site and yours is the first I saw that mentioned headlights. My 2006 4 Runner is experiencing issues with the headlights. You can leave the headlights on and when the ignition switch is turned off the lights will go out in a minute or so. In the past month they have been coming back on at night and draining the batter. We now have to turn them off manually to avoid this circumstance. Anyone experienced this issue before? If so, know of a fix?

I'd recommend protective film for sure. I didn't have any on my Golf R and the headlights got so pitted and sand blasted that I started getting flashed because the Bi-Xenon light pattern was getting diffused and people thought my brights were on. Someone ended up backing into me and wrecking one of the headlights, so I had them put some Xpel precut pieces I got a while back on after polishing the trashed one and it was worth it. Sure, it diffuses the light a little bit, but my bi-xenon lights on my Golf were almost $700 a piece, so it's worth protecting the investment.

You can do it yourself too with some patience and a heatgun, but it says something if I let mine sit in a box unused for almost a year and just ended up having someone do it.

I think it also depends on where you live too though, as Colorado puts ****ing rocks on the road for "traction" in the winter, so it trashes our windshields and basically the fronts of our vehicles.
