DIY: How-To Enable “Anytime” Fog Lights for $15 or Less

http://www.toyota-4runner.org/4th-gen-t4rs/23164-fog-lights-off.html#post198834

I was driving in heavy snow at night last week, and it would have been nice to have just the fog lights and tail lights on. The headlights were putting too much light on the snow up in the air, making it difficult to see the road. Does anyone know if the tail lights come on with the parking lights? I wouldn't want to drive at night without tail lights!

It would be nice to have an option for normal function with the high beams (where the fog lights go off when the high beams are switched on) or have the option to manually turn them on when the high beams are on for more light. Normally fog lights distract from distance vision since they make the ground in front of the vehicle brighter, so they should not be on with the headlights or high beams. But sometimes it's nice to have as much light as possible. It would be interesting to be able to run the high beams, low beams, and fog lights all at the same time for off road use (that would be illegal on road since most states allow no more than four front lights on at a time).

It would be nice to retrofit some projector fog lights into my 07, which has reflector fog lights and a not very sharp cutoff, but for how often I drive in heavy snow at night, I don't think it's worth it.

Part 1 of the mod is easy; takes all of about 5 minutes to do. Haven't attempted the second part, but don't really feel the need for fogs if the high beams are on.
