Headlight lenses

I am not sure if this is the best place but what is the best thing to use on my headlight lenses? They are grey and cloudy, not leaking any so it is not moisture inside just time ....

I took care of the headlamp lenses on our 4Runner today. I used a Mothers headlight restoration kit. I ended up having to use the sanding pads that were included so it took me longer than I expected but I am very happy with the results.

I used Meguiar's Headlight Restoration Kit which includes everything you need. I used it on my T4R and my wife's van and made a great improvement. I paid $24.00 at Walmart. Hope this is helpful.

for best results, wet sanding is the only way to go, 1000 grit to start , left and right, then 3000 grit up and down, then wipe clean and buff with plastic x .wipe it clean then apply headlight protector.

I've used a the Mother's powerball for headlights with decent results, but over the last weekend I tried 3M's. I will never use another! My 4runner headlights look new now!

3M Headlight Kit

I used it with a standard 18V cordless drill, worked great. Note: make sure you double and triple tape the edges around the lights! At one point I slipped off the headlight and onto the tape. The sandpaper ate right through the tape and scuffed my paint. It was an easy fix, just used the supplied polishing pad and polished it back to a nice shine, but 2-3 layers would have prevented it.

UPDATE: tried the toothpaste and it works!! not quite crystal clear but it definitely looks better.

Just use tooth paste with a rag. the gritty tootch paste is the best :50cal:

ive used car polishing compound on my wifes sienna, came out great but only lasts a few months.

Wetsanded 600, 800, 1000, 1500, 2000.

Orange cutting pad with Meguiars dual action cleaner

White polishing pad with poor boys polish

Black finishing pad with klasse all in one.

Also used 3M, with light sanding. Worked great, too!

If only cloudy and not badly pitted/blasted with sand, the gritty toothpaste method is surely worth a try. Using foam polishing pad mounted on drill surely saves, time, but mask area around headlight well.
