headlight on warning buzzer when exiting vehicle?

Hi guys,
So I got my 4runner a few weeks ago and I noticed that when I accidentally leave the headlights on and open the door (no key in ingnition), there is no warning buzzing sound.

My mechanic friend said if I get out and engine is off, the light will go off anyway.

Just wanting to know if no buzzing sound is the default behavior when leaving the light on and opening the door

No warning when you open the door with the headlights on. But yes, they'll shut off automatically shortly after you walk away.

They will also go off immediately if you hit the lock button on the key twice
