USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION. This has been covered probably 412898 times. Yes, it will fit; if you swap the lower HL trim, as well as either a. swap to HID's, or b. Do some super mod to fit the old HL connectors to the new assy.. If you don't use an 06 grille, you will have a gap.

I had assumed as much just looking for prior experience and didn't have the time to search. Wanted to ask before I forgot
Is it just a grille swap?
You're also saying they ran Factory HID's on the 2006 then. So I'd need an HID kit also

No biggie. In short, yes it will work but you will have a gap. If you choose to swap an '06 grille over, you will have to do some modifications to the grille. This will require trimming the sub-frame of the grille; otherwise it will be too long. Either that, or cut out the bumper so the grille won't hit it (obviously not the best solution cosmetically.)
No, there is no factory HID option for the 4Runners, but the bulb and socket size is different between the '06 and '05 assemblies. That is why going with HID's is overall easier since the ballast is plug and play and will accept both kinds of bulbs. FYI, it would have only taken less than 5 minutes to come up with this answer via search bar since this topic is covered constantly. That is why people get a little frustrated seeing threads like this on a regular basis, and having to repeat the same information.

More or less at the time I wanted to post it hoping for an answer before I was done with classes today or else I would look it up myself tonight

When will we ever be done with this "USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION" attitude???
Sure, I get it at times. There are many of us here that are intelligent and experienced individuals that are passionate about our vehicles and we get this stuff. We understand the ins and outs of the vehicle, and many of us are more tech savvy and forum experienced.
But, not everyone is the same. Many of us landed here via Google. It started with a question which led to this site with an answer. Finding community and passionate people that had a common interest, we joined to be part of that community.
Too many times we are quick to judge and quick to put a newbie in their place. This, I don't get. Before the internet and before forums, somehow people met and became friends and surrounded themselves with people with similar interests and hobbies and we all worked together to enjoy those hobbies. There was no Google, no Yahoo, no AOL even.... There was no search engine. We had the library. We had textbooks. We had manuals. We went to the local parts store or 4x4 shop and that's how we got advice and made friends. Imagine being at a get together, maybe a BBQ or park, meeting new people for the first time, and somebody comes up to you, the experienced now-it-all (and I mean that in a good way) and they ask you... Hey, will these headlights swap out? What would you say... Would you just dismiss them and tell them to hit the library or the auto parts store?! No, I doubt you would. Yet, in our new digital world, we are so quick to send people packing. We essentially tell them to pound sand and try harder.
This is about community and shared interests and helping one another. Not demeaning individuals or asserting your dominance via how knowledgeable you are. Sure, people could use search engines all day long. But, then where does the human interaction go? Where does the sense of community go? Wouldn't you rather be someone who helped and pushed forward a positive experience?
Here's my personal opinion. There are moderators on here. Let's let them do their jobs, tactfully and politely. If someone truly posts a post that needs to be addressed, maybe a moderator could potentially PM them and redirect them. What I see all too often are people (and I have no idea where these people come from) that jump in and squash the OP. And with every new comment and subsequent comment, the thread just stays at the top of the list to fester on the list and be another thread with bickering and complaining. Instead of jumping on the thread and nailing the OP to “SEARCH”, a) you could either let the moderators handle it, b) ignore the thread, leaving the thread to die off, c) be someone with a kind solution and provide direction (and then maybe recommend the search function politely)
Those new OPs or new members are left with the impression that there is no sense of community, that there are only a bunch of a-holes on here. Subsequently, they refrain from participating in the forum because they become apprehensive and scared to be judged.
I do want to say… I DO appreciate the individuals that take the time to respond and offer advice. I think those individuals display a higher level of maturity and give some hope that this world isn’t completely shallow and self-oriented. There are people out there that truly want to help and jump at the opportunity to assist, even know it may be a topic that’s been covered a million times.
I really hope to not have offended anyone here. I just really believe that a forum is a digital form of community. We have the power to make it a wonderful place to be that’s inviting and positive. We also have the power to guide individuals that are less fortunate to possess the technical know-how or the digital prowess on our forums.
Sorry for the rant and getting off-topic here. But, as a newer member, I’m had enough of it. Who am I? Probably nobody you’ve ever heard speak up on any post…. Why? Because, why would I even want to ask a question…. When it’s a 50/50 chance on what I’ll get.

I don't disagree with your points, but some more knowledgeable members have gone through the effort to research, consolidate, and compile information into threads (some of which get stickied such as my "Toolbox" thread for members to find easily when searching.
For example I made an extremely informative thread on "Check Engine Light On" conditions to help educate members on what it is, what turns it on, and how to approach it diagnostically so members can stop throwing gas caps as if its some sort of magic fix all. Yet, I still see many members saying they search ed and not finding it when I can find it easily each and everytime (though many members now actually link this thread for those who do not search which is nice.)
I have no problem helping people out on this forum, but I find it frustrating and time consuming when you end up repeating yourself consistently in multiple threads on the same topic over and over again. I try to personally respond to each member as I try to treat their situation as unique and individual, but many times it seems I could just as easily link a thread and give a canned "copy & paste" list of questions that never seem to be answered (i.e. what year, trim, engine, 2wd or 4wd, WHICH lights are on exactly, ect ect.)

I totally get that and respect how you feel. I find your replies all the time when I'm looking for stuff, so first off thank you!
But, I can tell there's a difference in the way you communicate and facilitate a conversation here. Even know you are discussing a frustrating topic here, you do so with tact and maturity. It definitely shows.
To me, it sometimes seems like some individuals are so quick to be those first individuals to pop on and say "SEARCH"... it's almost like, HAHAHA, I GOTCHA! Go get lost! That's actually not really the case with the first person to reply here. He did a bit of both. Dished out the "SEARCH" comment, but he DID answer the question. Why not answer the question and follow up with a link or reiteration of how easy it was to find the answer. Let's redirect the lost individuals, tactfully and show them how to use the forum, as opposed to belittling them publically.

When people start doing it. You don't have to use the forum's search button. Use google and it will find all the posts on this forum. There's a TON of GREAT info on this site that members have worked hard to figure out and share with others. Why fill this place up with more of the same crap?
