HEADLIGHTS!!! From OEM to Catz Zeta to PnP to Projector Retro

Well, I have been through the paces with my 2004 4Runner and I wanted to sharethe progress with you all.

I have pics showing the Stock OEM headlamps with regular, OEM bulbs, thenI went on to add a CATZ ZETA ballast system. It increased the output, but I wanted more! So I bought a PnP 55W HID kit (4300K) from RS. It made a huge difference, but I wanted it to look more OEM, so I got a LS430 retrofit from Caesar at Lighwerkz. He completed the kit wth a 55W 4300K D2S HID kit. Now I am in HID heaven!

here is a pricing sheet on lightwerkz.net for Toyota. The prices listed are for a 50% deposit. so the actual cost is double that...right? and you have to send them your headlight housings.

I'm so glad you went w/ a retrofit & not purchase 2006+ headlights.

I have the 2006+ projectors because it came w/ the vehicle, but if I didn't have it, I wouldn't bother getting them.

Because they are expensive, the projection isnt that great & the beam pattern isn't sharp.

If I had a pre2006...I would do the exact thing!! Nothing less!!

only stock bulb holders are 9006. Most good HID projectors (LS430, S2K, TSX, TL, etc) take D2S.
55 watt gives you additional 30% in output, so I would rather ask why not?

So if I ordered these for my 2004 v8 SE 4runner I should get the 55w 4300k d2s hid kit instead of the 9006 kit. Everything will fit correctly correct? No addition mod's/accessories are required correct?

i think you're missing something here. when they refer to "retro-fit"...they are taking projectors from another car (Lexus/Acura) and putting them in the factory 4Runner headlight assembly. the bulbs have to match the assembly...so they must use a the D2S in this specific example. the retrofit is a rather involved mod...well, more involved than just putting HID bulbs in the stock location.

so, if you have the stock 2004 4Runner headlights...then the bulbs are the 9006 size. if you get a HID kit, you need to order 9006 bulbs.

hope that helps. the vocabulary can sometimes make it hard to understand just what is going on.
