I cant figure out what may be missing that causes my headlights to be loose. The guy I bought it from had folded up cardboard stuffed in there to keep it from moving but i would like to fix it.

whats weird is that all the screws seem tight......

any suggestions? any link to an exploded view of the headlight assembly that may offer some clues.

Thanks

Mine were loose when I got the truck. They wobbled vertically.
Look closely at the various adjusting screws where they enter the plastic headlight housing. A couple of mine had been backed all the way out (metal threaded into plastic--one of many small bonehead designs on these trucks) and all I had to do was thread them back in and totally re-adjust the headlights at that point.

remove the headlights, unscrew the screws that go into the headlight housing, apply some super glue, then reassemble and aim them using a 10mm socket to turn the adjusters. the whole screw driver thing doesn't work for long since the adjusters have plastic gears, ive been thinking about machining some out of stainless and having big knobs that are easy to turn permanent attached to them. after i did my retrofit, my left headlight would always be low after wheeling, the ball joint screw kept backing out because of the extra weight.

Great idea. Just think: If Toyota had done this and mass-produced it, it would have added, what.... $5 to the cost of the vehicle?
