that's not why your headlights are bad, the wiring is going to be sized correctly for the current (which is related to the power where P=VI). also, i don't think any manufacturers are running the headlight supply through the light switch on the stalk, that wouldn't make much sense, all that switch does is switch a relay.

Most cars Ive dealt with are older. Helping friends and relatives out, most 90's- early 2000's vehicles dont use relays.

And voltage drop is a huge issue. A small drop in voltage to the bulb results in a large drop in bulb output. Less output means a lower intensity filament, which means poorer focus and less light projected out on the road.

Having dealt with much shittier headlights, I actually like the performance of my 99's headlights. Relays and wirirng and bulb holder are still in good shape, and Im using phillips xtravision +30's. A good, non filtered bulb.

The voltage drop is accounted for when the engineers chose the wire gauge
