Im new to the forum but have been a long time browser. I have a 98 2WD limited. So heres my problem: my headliner leaks where it meets the top of my windshield. It leaks right above my rearview mirror and above the passenger seat. It only leaks when im driving in real heavy rain and only when i come to a stop. When I stop the water runs along my roof and drains right into my car. I dont know where or how it comes in. I checked around my sunroof and it seems fine. Has anyone had this problem or know what I can do.

I had the very same issue with mine when I first bought it! The leaks were even in the same spots inside, and would only appear under the very same conditions! The area behind the glass was rusted, and the seal was not doing it's job. I brought the truck back to the dealer, he payed to have the windshield pulled out, then had the area behind repaired and repainted, and then put the windshield back in. If you look closely around your windshield, you might see some surface rust near the window seal, but it might be hidden underneath.

The last time I had my windshield replaced, the glass tech called me out and showed me some heavy corrosion around the window frame. He told me has has seen this many times on these 4runners and it will eventually lead to a leak. Fortunately for me, it has not leaked yet (knock on wood).
I would say x2 on the rust around the windshield.

thanks for all the responses guys. Ill need to look at the windshield seal closer to see if i can find any rust. I have a feeling thats what it will end up being. I just dont want to get hit up with some ridiculous price at my local toyota dealership

It's your moonroof drain that is pluged up... I don't believe it is your windshield. Open your moonroof and clean out the holes in the corners.

i already cleaned those out. I got a piece of wire and stuck it as far as i could down there. seemed fine to me
