Headrest DVD Players?

Hey have any of you had any luck with any of those standalone headrest dvd players? I'm thinking of going this route and not messing with the factory nav/radio system. For one, I just like listening to my tunes while the kids in the back watch whatever they like with the headsets.

We went with a Panasonic unit. It has a mounting plate that straps to the headrest posts. Then the player itself clips into the plate. I highly recommend this style as opposed to something custom fit to a particular vehicle. Makes it easily usable with multiple vehicles and comes in handy if your destination doesn't have other forms of kid friendly entertainment.

The Pannie's battery is rated at 10 hours on a full charge with proper dimming of the display. Using default video brightness with no effort to conserve power, we get 6-7 hours of real runtime. Makes a convenient time limit on how much video time they get on a long road trip, but there's still a car adapter if you need it.

Thanks Brent for a good idea!

Thanks J.A. for the photo. That is awesome! I visited your website so I'll be looking at how you did this. Was it hard? How long did it take for you to install it? So you have no regrets going with Vizualogic?

Thanks again guys!

The only regret I have is that if I waited till now I would have save a few hundred bucks :D I believe there is a summer sale on right now. The Vizualogics are very nice, 9" is the way to go. The built in FM modulator works really well, this way the little ones that don't like to wear the headset dont need to. The two individual DVD players are a must.

I didnt time the install, but it is pretty straight forward. The write up on my page is very detailed, gives you the wire to attach to and what not.

those are great catch. I've seen those in SUV's and they were automatically installed. And I saw all those stuffs in many electronic stores and in the internet.
