Headrest Retainer Removal

Anyone know how to remove the headrest retainer (the exposed plastic part that the headrest slides into) on the front seats?

my guess would be that you would need to take the seat apart (get the skin off) and unscrew / unclip w/e you need to do...I cant imagine it would be a simple thing to do.

I zipped the back panel skin out, and don't see any mounting hardware for this. The plastic portion of the headrest must pop-off some how (it has to be installed after the seat covering/skin).
I've had older cars that had a removeable clip to hold it, but see none here.
