Heard something about Jiffy lube

Well I was talking to a friend today who works at Jiffy Lube and basically what I took from the conversation is, the place sucks to work at and NEVER take you car there except for oil changes. He said unless you want you car screwed up you should stay away. He was telling me how his Assistant Manager told him after the car pulled away, "Wow, that thing wont work in about 3 days..." So basically, dont go there. I knwo someone here had a problem with them.

the auto trans t-tec machine for complete tranny flushes is another reason to use them. It's not a bad deal. It's rather hard to screw that job up. Bring your own fluid if you like. I have before. Just barter with the mgr about price. Worked for me in the past. I agree about not letting them do any other maintenance. I don't even let them do oil changes due to the crappy filters they use.

Why anyone would bring their expensive 4Runner to a Jiffy Lube/Midas/any other cheap crappy place is beyond me.

At our dealer the price for an oil change after Toyota filter, enviro, and 14% tax and everything is $42.13 Canadian.....includes a quick inspection, of course.

If that's not cheap enough I have no idea how you guys are affording these trucks in the first place.....

I don't understand why people do this either. My last oil change at my Toyota dealer for my 4Runner was only $24 (US) which seems very reasonable to me.

i was able to Negotiate when i bought by truck that i get life time free oil changes.

i just had to fill out the feedback card in front of the salesmen who sold me the car and give him great reviews.

Dealership oil change = free

The guys at Jiffy Lube around here act like they know it all but end up not knowing jack and breaking things. I'm amazed everyday when customers tell me what a jiffy lube employeee told them about their car. It also carries over to what VIP, Autozone, and Advanced employess try to pretend like they know about cars.

Could this friend of yours be a disgruntled Jiffy exployee?? Therefore, he's just badmouthing the company. I always take everything with a grain of salt, esp. when someone badmouths the place he/she works at.

Reminds me of what I went through when I was trying to find lug nuts to use with my steel wheels/snow tires at the local auto parts stores. After dealing with a bunch of these know-it-alls, I finally found someone who knew their stuff and gave me what I needed at a fair price.

BTW, at $1.98 each Autozone blew away the dealer's price of $7.95 each for the lug nuts. FYI, the lug nuts for the alloy wheels did not work with the steelies I have.

I've used the local Grease Monkey for 10 years and never had an issue but I also do a full inspection of their work after every change. It's hit and miss at those places but a dealership will be much more consistent.

I can understand that since you can get a good deal , BUT there is also someone watching your back there, so I can understand that too.

In my area all these places have high school kid's working there and they screw around so much even during the oil change they are alway's laughing and joking. Saw that we I went there with my dad once.

thats where i take my Company Car to. I will never take my oen car there though.
