Ok... I may just be stupid but... when I press "Auto" for my aircon controls and it needs to just used heat (say it's 64 outside and the temp is set at 76) why does my AC unit come on?

check and see, it may be set to defrost. if the defrost is on, the ac will come on to help defrost/de-fog the windows.
