Heated cloth seats????

Any of you guys with the earlier 4th Gen's have heated cloth seats. My buddy used to have a 4th Gen 4R a while back and he swears he had heated cloth seats. I told him they don't offer them now (at least that I know of) but didn't know if Toyota used to offer heated cloth as an option. I know they do on the Scions.

If not, is there any way to mod the factory cloth seats with heaters?

I've never heard of factory heated cloth seats in any vehicle. It's a nice idea, but does it really make sense?

My 4Runner is the first vehicle in a long time (at least 15 years) that doesn't have factory leather. And you know what? I like the fact that the cloth is cool in the summer and warm in the winter. I honestly think I prefer the cloth over leather.

My girlfriend's brother has heated cloth seats in his Scion and my coworker has heated cloth seats in her Jeep Commander.

I'm with you, I actually like the cloth. It would just be nice to have heated cloth though!
 
cloth over leather yes no cracking or anything always look new. as of today i dont think they offer factory heated cloth seats i know on the limited it comes standard with heated front seats but that comes standard with leather

Are you sure it wasn't a dealer installed package? I remember reading that all Scions are shipped exactly the same way and the dealers install all options.

As for the Commander, I had no idea that they offered heated cloth seats. But that too could be dealer installed.

If you want to install seat heaters yourself (or have them installed), it can definitely be done without breaking the bank. The seat heater kits are relatively inexpensive.
 
Do a search, there are quite a few member with heated seats with their cloth seats. The controls also fill in the blanks in the center console quite nicely. I've been meaning to do mine, but just never have got around to it. It's going to be another cold winter for my backside...
 
As you can see from the signature, I have the Rostra seat heaters. The work great -- nice and toasty on a cold morning. :D

And they only take a minute to warm up.
 
After having several vehicles in the past with leather seats, and just coming out of a Jeep Grand Cherokee that had them but didn't work, I love the change of having cloth in my SE. Has definitely been nicer to ride in with the cloth having a warmer feeling in the cold. It's a must to have heaters with leather. When I get around to it, I'm going to be installing a set of carbon element heaters from heatedseatkits.com. A buddy of mine has them in his ride and the carbon elements get real toasty real quick and they're supposed to be more reliable than the old resistor wire setups.
 
All Subaru Outbacks have heated seats regardless of cloth or leahter. My wife has my old '05 OUtback wagon with heated leather seats, but my brother-in-law has an '06 or '07 with heated cloth seats.

Might have to look into this. Been getting down freaking 8 degrees here and staying there lately. My butt might need them if this continues.

Has anyone installed Toyota factory heating elements on their 4runner? I would at least be interested in using the factory switches, even if the elements were aftermarket.

Rostra makes the Toyota OEM seat heaters, and the switches fit in the console for the 4th gen models. This thread has more information and photos.
