Heater only blows hot hair

Ok guys, did some searching, and the dealership is stumped, so I thought I would ask here.

09 Trail, about 36k miles on it.

For some time now, the heater will only blow HOT air. Anything above "Lo" on the heater setting will literally cause me to be baked out of the truck.

So, I am faced with a truck that is too hot, or too cold. Goldilocks dilemma.

Been in twice to the dealership for work. Replaced two parts (I cannot remember which ones right now). One was the front plate I think.

Good news is that it is covered under the extended warranty. Bad news is that I have to keep bringing it back, and in springtime, I cannot find that "just right" temperature setting.

Any ideas?

For one, are you absolutely, 100%, completely and utterly POSITIVE that the A/C button is on? As in, the button on the right of the center dial where it says A/C. Make sure that light is on. Easy thing to miss.

Also, please search next time: It's been covered before.

So, you are saying to use the HEAT in the truck, the A/C has to be on? In the winter?

That does not make sense to me.

I'm also curious as I own a 07' Limited and am in the same predicament. The heater definitely blows extremely hot air on every temp setting except for Lo. I've heard this about various makes of Toyota vehicles.

During the winter months up here in Chicago, I'd set the temp to about 67 deg F tops. Any more than that and it would roast me out of the vehicle. Strange since the ambient outside air temp would be 0 deg F at times.

Since it's an electronic climate control system, I can see where the user would need to switch the A/C button to ON position as the heater is extremely efficient.

Ironic that even if you set the RECIRCULATE button on OFF position to bring in outside air that is 0 deg F and switch the A/C button to OFF position, you are still roasted out of the vehicle.

This is my first vehicle with electronic climate control system and my first Toyota so perhaps I'm just not familiar with it.

So, of course after typing this, I go out to find this ambient temperature thermistor (located directly behind the 5 slots) and it's loaded with dust. Will be gently cleaning it off this weekend.

some say to blow the dirt out of the interior temp sensor, right of the steering column and a little bit low on the dash -- some little vent slots...

bumping this old thread. but i'm having the same issue. anything above "LO" is very hot. the temp control goes from 65 --> 85. when i set it to 65, it feels like 85. every setting between 65---> 85 automatically gives me 85. i thinking there is a temp controller circuit which is stuck to the highest setting.

where can i find this circuit?

Found another thread where progress4m states the issue may be the temp sensor unplugged.

Took apart the lower portion and found this.
