Heater Speed Swich Problem

My heater only works on high speed.Is there a resistor block that has failed? What would cause this?The selector switch goes through all positions but does nothing except at the high position.It's a 92 4Runner with air conditioning.

yes there is a resistor in the heater box .. usually causes the 1 speed problem ..

It's most likely the fan speed resistor module. It's located in the ductwork under the dash, pass side.

Just did mine the other day. Had the same prob, only worked on high... Got one off e-Bay for $20 shipped... I peeled the carpet back a bit to make a little more room, its close to the firewall in the ducting..

It was the resistor block.A cheap and easy fix.

just a question how did you manage to unscrew the screw closest to the firewall??
