Actuator very fixable
Hello,
A couple weeks ago I was going through the same thing. One of the posts in here was helpful. There is an actuator motor underneath the glove box that is exactly your problem. Take the glove box off (2 screws), then turn on the heat. You can feel it regardless of state, I had both clicking and whirring. The part was not cheap ~ 153+tax, but you can replace it by only taking the glove box off. Its not easy, but not horrible - 3 screws and a electrical clip. I bought the part first and I am glad I did. You can then see where the 3rd screw is. It took a small ratchet with a phillips bit to get to it. In total about an hour job.
