It take about 30 minutes for my heater to blow hot air, Its seems as though everything is working, Ive even replaced the thermostat. After 30 minutes it works great, any ideas why it takes so long to?

Thank you:confused:

What do you mean a bad valve? What valve? & If the heater core was bad would it not leak? Any help is appreciated, thank you.

The switching valve is located on the firewall where the heater lines go into the vehicle cabin, that valve can stick shut and you won't get hot coolant into the heater core. I don't think it would be the heater core, if it didn't heat up at all I could see the heater core maybe being clogged but it definitely sounds like you're air locked.

Heating/Defroster

Okay, So Ive tried replacing the thermostat, checked the switching valve on the firewall. the coolant level, blend the system in case there was a vapor lock, check all the fuses, and the heater in the backseat work fine. And still my defroster will not heat up, Help!!! Could it be something under the dash? ps, the Air conditioning works fine.

Any up-date. Having a similar problem with 2000 ltd, elec cimate control. No heat or defrost, no matter how long.

Can get heat if switched to AC

Update:

Went to the firewall valve. Sprayed with WD40, also down the shaft of the cable. Wiggled valve arm with channel locks. Had a little result.

Next day, took cable off of valve. Manipulated valve back and forth, 4 o'lock to 9 o'clock. Sprayed more WD down cable shaft. Manipulated that a little.

Heated up engine and tried heat, swapped valve the other way, got heat (away from drivers side - 9 o'clock).

Used climate control cold, hot, then cold, and noted that cable was moving, so I hooked it back up to valve. Appears to be working fine now.
