HeftyFabworks experience

Listen to all these people saying "OP is being a b***h". Guarantee if they were in the position they'd be singing a different tune. I mean, the texts show it all. Not once did Hefty say they wouldn't ship to the residential address when it was brought up. Previous product was in fact shipped there. There was mention of the event. OP did place order with ample time for the lead time. But you see it all of the time. These small shops only have so many people fabricating and can only get things out so fast. They just tell customers what they want to hear most of the time is what I've learned.

Its not always small shops! I have ordered from some supporting vendors on here that told me the product was in stock only to get it a month or two later. Even worse, I was charged for it from the get go! I have a few hefty fab products on my runner and a few of them are custom jobs. Yes, they took a little bit longer but they were not straight off the production line either. This is not an unusual experience when I have ordered custom fab work with any other shop either. AND if you change something in the middle of the order, you should expect a bit more of a delay. After all, you are not the ONLY customer paying their light bill. Sorry for the OP's experience but it's not everyone's either!

Being a business owner myself I can see the frustration on both sides and think this could have def been handled off the forum with a little better communication.

OP is making this situation bigger than it really is, and could have been more clear from the very beginning that time was of the essence. The purpose of his post seems more aimed at trashing HF and it's owner, and trying to sabotage future business for them in a fit of anger. The communication about timeframe should have been better, but texting isn't the best way to communicate for important matters. Thankfully he posted the text thread so we can see how it really played out.

Because of OP's disproportionate reaction to the situation, I wanted to provide my recent experience with HF. Balancing the forces, so to speak. I needed some rock sliders, so I called them up. Chris himself answered the phone and took the time to answer all my beginner questions about install, options, etc. Chris said there was an estimated 6 week turnaround but it could be longer. He said if it took longer, I could call any time for updates. I had already read their website, and the information about shipping to the local freight hub was stated clearly.

I ordered, paid, and got my confirmation. I provided my residential address as the shipping address, but this was really so they could locate the nearest freight hub. It took 9 weeks for the sliders to ship. 50% longer than the estimate, but by no means the horror story I've seen in other threads about other manufacturers. The build quality is excellent, and they look great.

So there's at least one HF customer who is very satisfied with his experience.

This is one thing I have seen where people use social media/forums/facebook etc as a medium to express their anger(sometimes rightfully so, other times not). But then go beyond a negative review searching for something for free. This article came to mind:

deadspin-quote-carrot-aligned-w-bgr-2

Not saying what the OP did was threatening, but it seems like HF was trying to help him as much as possible and it appears their shipping policies have changed since his last purchase(big deal move on).

Why is it that almost every thread I see on here a bunch of whining and complaining. Y'all are supposed to be tough individuals, that's why you bought a 4Runner - start acting like it.

You are reading all the wrong threads.

I'm not sure if everyone gets such slow shipping/ updates, but this is my experience so far

I have a order placed 4/6/2017

For full coated aluminum Skids with 6-8 weeks Leadtime to delivery
and coated rock sliders with 8-10 weeks leadtime to delivery
NOTHING CUSTOM in my order

They replied on the first day of week 10 stating still a couple of weeks out
today marks the 2nd business day into week 12 (counting monday to fridays). There has been no shipment, and i'm guessing shipment will take another week.

It was always to my understanding that leadtime to delivery, meant that i should have it in my hands by then.

We are not only past the leadtime to delivery, even if they shipped it at the end of that 10 weeks, i should have it by now.

Not too happy being that i have no steps/sliders, and kids are too small to get in by themselves.

I would update my leadtimes, as to not MISLEAD potential customers. 10 weeks to delivery, i was ok with. But we are approaching 12-13 weeks to delivery and possibly even longer.

Edit: Just got messaged saying they were shipping this week. We'll see if this holds.
