Hella 500 Help

I have a pair of Hella 500s on my smitybuilt brush guard and I cant get them to aim straight. The lights are aimed as far down as they go so that they sit level with the brush guard. At night the beams shoot up and not straight down the road. Is it because my brush guard is not level? Anyone have any suggestions

from the looks of it ur brushguard looks like its not leveled. why dont you get one of those levelers (ruler looking thing with liquid inside) put it on the flat part of your brush guard and see if its level, if its not maybe thats why its pointing up? im about to add some hella700 on mine as well and im waiting to see the results

Looks like it's the way your Smitty's are mounted, just by looking at the end of the headlight protector it's facing down essentially making the actual light mount surface level up..few re-adjustments of the screws behind the grill should fix it..wonder where that airplane is headed?

i had a level on my arb with my hella 550's and the same thing was happening get some 30 cent rubber washers from lowes and stack them until you can aim the beam down where it needs to be, i spent 3 hours trying to figure out why they were pointing straight up in the sky bumper was level and everything rubber washers was the cheapest easiest solution i saw.

well if it's truly not level just loosen the bolts and let it drop a little bit then tighten when level, if you take a hit this will be better as well as then your grill guard will be less likely to smash into your hood or other parts of your actual truck, beyond that the rubber washers are most likely going to be needed anyway and you need the rubber ones so it won;t make your grill guard rust out over time metal to metal contact without the proper coating is a bad thing.

you only have to loosen the bolts that go from the guard to the mounts not the mount to the body

So what i ended up doing is placing a washer between the base of the light and the brush guard, this way I could aim the light farther down. It doesnt bother me that my brush guard is a little uneven.
