Hella DE update

Okay so I finally installed the Hella DE's. It wasn't exactly warm but I sucked it up and weathered 20 degree temps. The light output is better than what I remember of the OEM's. I installed the kit per the instructions, but installing the supplied switch did not control the fogs independently like I expected. In fact, the switch doesn't work at all. They are still controlled by the OEM switch, which I mean is a cleaner look I guess, but I want independent control of having them on when I want (just parking lights/fogs). Would I have to do the rewiring like JA did, or can I get the supplied twitch to work? I even put in the supplied relay in place of the OEM fog relay, and no dice. But hey, at least I have foglights now. Yay.

PS: I ordered some Phillips bulbs, and when they blow, I'm upgrading to HID.

Nokya's are on the way too:awais:

yep, do the fog light mod and you'll def have more control over them. Not 100%, but almost. (You still have to have your running lights on to operate them, but at least not your headlights.)

If you want the upmost control over them, you can install your own switch to operate your fogs independently...you'll just have to run all new wiring, separate from that of the oem wiring.

Kelly -

Did you have any issues with loosening the nuts for the brackets? Photos?

Give me the blow by blow on the install. :awais:

Did my comments help?

I will be attempting to deal with my broken bolt and the install (round 2) tomorrow. Will install the new LED tails (via Jason) as a starter project (plug and play I hope) to get us pumped up for tackling the fogs. Will take some photos.

Regards!
