I've been using these horns for 20+ years--just moving them from car-to-car. I have two sets for our two cars. I've never used the relay. Never had a problem, nor blown a fuse.

Wiring is super simple: The ground wire (shown in Oki's thread) goes from the negative (-) terminal on the back of the horn to a frame ground (I used the mounting bolt just like Oki did). The plug pulled off the original horn(s) plugs onto the positive (+) terminal. That's it.
 
^^ Ditto. Just swap the Hellas in in place of the oems, easy peasey.

Does anybody have an opinion of the Hellas vs Fiamms?
 
Just a heads up, just went to install these into my 2016 Trail Premium and found that you just can't just swap in the Hellas. My factory harness has a male to female snap plug into the stock horns. Clearly the new stock horns are better than the older model ones so the hellas might not be necessary although I still want them...
 
I installed Hella's on my SR5 today.

My stocker was only a single horn. A couple wires and about 20 mins and I was good to go. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!
 
I installed the red hella horns with a relay in addition to the factory horns. Definitely gets non attentive drivers who text and drive.

I can feel the vibration from the Hellas every time I use it.

Not to bring up an old thread, but has anyone figured out how to replace the stock horns with the male/female snap harness that jawkdna was talking about? I've got a 2017 Magnetic Grey TRD Off-Road. I noticed the stock horns are better than they have been for the other 5th gens, but they are just not loud enough for the idiots in the suburbs. With the snap plug, is it also plug-n-play? was thinking about getting some hella sharptones. I did check, and there are two horns in the engine compartment. Looks like they have some sort of plastic weatherproofing at the bottom, which might be causing them to be muffled. I've attached some images.

yes its still plug and play. I replaced my horns on my 17 Pro with the Hella Supertones. The wire still plugs into the Hella horns, it may not snap into them but does plug in. Then just create a ground for both horns and they should work.
 
Are you guys using the relay that comes with the supertone horns or is there a stock relay that will power these no problem? Thank you.
 
When I installed my Supertones, I added an additional ground cable like Okki did, and found that after I installed them only one of the horns worked.

After a little trouble shooting it came down to an insufficient ground. Scraped a little paint off of the location where the ground cable bolted to the frame and BAM both horns were working.
