Yes, massive. Both of them showed me proof where they had signed off on their purchases with "133,000" and "110,000", respectively. In both cases the odometers had been rolled back considerably; 100k in one case and about 70k in the other. For some reason, federal law says that vehicles 10+ years or older are exempt from odometer reporting so my assumption is that this issue is rampant on vehicles 10+ years old.

So let me get this straight for a second.
You went as a potential buyer on 2 rigs and informed the *sellers* that they were victims of odo fraud; meaning they had not run their own carfaxes themselves when buying their rigs?
Sounds a bit pathetic to me on their behalf.
You are spot on, that is exactly what happened. Seems to me they trust dealers just a little too much. $40 to run a Carfax can save you a lot of headache and money if it turns out there's something on that Carfax that you didn't want to see. A Carfax is really only a waste if it checks out!
