Hello everybody, a newbie here

I am excited about soon joining the 4Runner clan.

I live in the Bay Area, and about 3 weeks ago, ordered a 06' Limited V8 4X4 Galactic Grey on Grey w/ X-REAS. It really sucks that there are so few Limiteds with X-REAS here in California.

I really wanted an 05' with the 0% APR , but I really wanted Galactic Grey and X-REAS on a Limited Model

I did get 1K over Invoice though, which I think is good for a special order 06'
The order was approved by Toyota 3 weeks ago and has a build month of November and a delivery month of December.

Anybody have any insite on the time frames I was quoted and if they mormally hold true. Is it possible I might see it early?

Do dealers usually low or high ball special order time frames?

Thanks everybody and I am glad to be a part of this forum.

Why is there no 4th generation section?

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your soon to be 4Runner. I can't help on your other questions as I've never special ordered a vehicle before.

The reason there is no 4th gen section as this forum caters mostly to 4th geners.

Other forums like yotatech cater mostly to the older gens.

Welcome!

Why did you get rid of your GX470?

Well i made a bad choice and got a GX without the one option I really wanted.... KDSS

The GX base suspension is too soft, even with the adaptive 4 setting shocks in the firm setting, it swayed a lot in cross winds, and was unstable during hard braking, and in general I didn't like the way it handled. Yes it was smooth, but that comes at a price. Hence why I required X-REAS on my 4Runner.

The one thing I loved about the GX and will miss dearly is the Mark Levinson system. It plained rocked!!!

The reason I am not going for another GX with KDSS (and the reason I no longer have my Corvette Z06 for that matter) is I am a new daddy and no longer have the funds or time for either of those vehicles.

Welcome to the forum. I noticed your first vehicle listed is a RMK...nice. I am more of a yamaha man myself, but its good to see some other sledders here. This summer i ditched my mountain max for a new SXViper Mountain 700. Cant wait to go. Where do you usually ride?

I can relate to that! In the month and a half that I have owned my 4Runner, I can truly say it is one of the more enjoyable cars I have owned.....and my kids love it too.

Ahh, you are a yamahahaha man huh :)

Seriously though, nice sleds. In the group that I ride with we have a 700 MM and 2 700 SXVipers, a Rev 800, and a 800 RMK improved sled from Carl's Cycle. We have fun bashing each others brands , but it is in all good fun.

Yes it is nice to see a fellow sledder on the forum here. I ride up on Yuba Pass up Hwy 49.

We should hook up this winter and ride, it is almost that time of the year. I have my sledding videos out.

Not sure if you read Sno-West but in their magizine Artic cat always has a 1 page ad, last year I think they had a guy with all his gear on in the house in a freezer. That is me this time of year. LOL

Hmm, intersting, I don't think I have ever hi-jacked my own thread before on a forum. LOL

I ride near Bassetts/Sierra Buttes all the time, my friend has a cabin up there at Lusk Meadows. We also ride at Blue Lakes near Kirkwood a lot. We should definitely meet up and ride sometime, I go pretty much every weekend. Always looking for new people to ride with. I am so amped to ride this year I cant wait. I bought my viper in june and its just been sitting there torturing me all summer. Summer sucks. I do read snowest, the latest issue really makes those new Apex Mountains look good. If i only had an extra $10,000 laying around.......

As for friendly bashing...
How do you keep a yahama from getting stolen?

put a polaris cover on it. ;):

GX 470 VS. 4Runner

I concur with your assessment wholeheartedly. Beofre I bought my Limited I was comparing against the GX as well. I also liked the 4Runner's sharper handling and control vs. the GX. At the time my dealer never seemed to have any KDSS equipped models and I am not sure I wanted to pay the price for the sport package anyhow.

I loved the GX interior and extra headroom but the handling differences and side-opening tailgate (w/o opening glass) were a deal breaker for me.

The X-REAS equipped Runner handles very well for a heavy-duty body-on-frame SUV.
