Hi to everyone in here! first of I have to say that I am so excited that I am a new owner of a 95 sr5 4x2 v6. Looking forward to learn as much as i can about the car and such. I was always a toyota guy but eventually turned into the honda camp . But now I'm back . Just hate how crazy theft is when you own a damn honda.
I accuired the truck 2 weeks ago from my Bosses Boss who doesn't want to deal with the fact that he needs to spend at least $2500.00 to have the motor rebuilt so ended up giving it away. Luckily I was there when he made the decision and with no hesitation had first dibs on the Truck, got it for free.

The truck is mint! inside and out with no dings on the body panels and interior has no tears what so ever. Anyway I do not mind paying good money to have the engine replaced or rebuilt. Luckily I work at the parts dept for a Acura car dealership and I foresee a hand full of connections already, just have to figure out what path to take . Sorry for this long post! you folks could tell that I am just so thrilled to have this truck! Tahnks for reading

Hey, welcome in and killer smokin' deal on the truck!

Post us a pic! To be honest, I have not seen a 2wd 2nd generation T4R.

On the engine, I think it comes down to do you want to get your hands dirty and build something yourself (rebuild it) or do you just want to get rolling asap (crate engine)?

I'd vote for the crate engine myself...I like warranties! As for sources, I think you have better info on that than I. I kinda miss my days as a parts guy just because of that!

I like the 3.0. I'd toss in a performance intake, chip it, headers and exhaust and look into a cam and injectors, maybe a supercharger. (There is a post somewhere in here from a guy who builds 3.4's for 2nd gen Toyotas...nasty engines! I want one! For a free truck, this may be the way to go if you want killer power and maintain drivability.

thanks fellas! I will definitley post pics as soon as I give it a quick wash. I won't be doing any work on it for a couple of weeks since I am on the process of planning my vacation trip, I kind of wanted to back out on the trip because of the truck hehe.

I would probably end up buying a remanufactured engine from a place called H.E.C ( Howards Engineering Company) they are one of our preferred clients at the dealer. they purchase internal parts for tranny's and engines from us almost on a daily basis so I would think that they are one of the better companies out there. The crate motor comes with a 3 year warranty/36000 miles with car rental and towing if engine fails. My price is 2600.00 for the crate. Sound good? sounds good to me .
