Hi,
Got my 2011 SR5 last week.
We live in a remote area (for exemple the nearest Best Buy is 1000km away).
There is only one mechanic available in a 600km radius due to labor shortage. So when your car break, it's about 2 months of wait time to get it repared, or a 800$ bill to tow it to the next garage and get it repaired in about 1 month. If you need it repaired ASAP, that's 3k$ to get it towed to the next big city.
That mean reliability was the no1 critera for our new vehicule. By far!
The choice of Toyota based on that was pretty easy.
The second critera was to be able to tow our boat. Based on this, the Highlander V6 and the 4runner were our best pick.
The next idea could seem strange, but it was really something that we considered. Around here 80% of the vehicule here are body-on-frame pickup. If an unfortunate event happen, I prefer to be in a BOF vehicule if I'm hit by another BOF vehicule.
Concerning the trim level, well my wife said no more than 35k for the car. (here in canada the SR5 start at 37k). I would have prefered the limited with the full-time 4WD but the 48k asked was just too much. Also, we both hate leather seats and moonroof so the SR5 was our only choice. But boy... it was an hard choice.... I hope I won't miss the AWD of our old Honda CRV 02...
