Hello T4r community!
Just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. I've been lurking for a while and gained some great information from the community. I've been a member of many forums but first time here. I have a 2010 Ltd 4WD with tan leather and Nav. Only a few mods -- new horns (what was Toyota thinking?), LEDs, etc. Nothing major.
This is my first 4Runner but I'm not new to Toyota. I've had Tacomas and Tundras as well as a Dodge Ram (4x4), and Jeep CJ's (fiberglass tub, V8). Although I prefer the engine & transmission of the Tundra, the 5th Gen is a great, capable vehicle and I'm VERY pleased with my purchase.
Before buying the 4Runner, I was very close to pulling the trigger on a new Touareg TDI. A very nice car... until you look at its track record. Not to beat on VW (they make good cars), but the Touareg is a grenade on wheels. As one owner mentioned, VW should just give them away and charge for maintenance.
Interestingly enough, 2 months into ownership of my 4Runner, another driver decided that red lights were optional and rammed into the side of me (driver side, front wheel). She was driving a Lexus RX-series. Pushed me sideways a couple feet and bounced her car sideways. Her car was totaled. The impact crushed my UCA. $9K in damages later and a few very thourough inspections, it's back to 100%. For those folks curious to know how the 4Runner handles a collision -- amazingly well (despite the obvious cosmetics).

By the way... anyone remove their hydrocarbon filter?
