My name is John. Have a 2005 T4R V6. A few upgrades. I'll try to get a few pics up soon.


Was wondering what engine oil you guys are running? I have a G35 which I run full synthetic, but the dealership told me they don't really recommend synthetic.

What do you guys think?

New here as well, and also with VQ35 on the side (the G35's fwd brutha). I use the 5/30 Penzoil Platinum in both. 5K intervals with any filter but fram. Change my own since the its less than a dino change at a quick lube joint (<$28). I did noticed an increase in the Max of 1 mpg immediately after the switch, but that could be coincidental. There is no reason NOT to use synthetic unless your relying on sludge to keep your seals intact...

How often are you going to change your oil?? If you do it every 7500 miles or less, then stick with cheap regular oil.

I use Mobil 1 oil and filter in my 4th gen and do my changes at 8,000-10,000 miles. I used full synthetic in my 3rd gen since it had about 30,000 miles and I just sold it with 152,000 miles and it uses no oil and still runs like a top. I also changed that at 8k-10k mile intervals (as I have done with most of my other vehicles that had near 200,000 or more miles when sold).

My 03 has over 100,000 on it, so I am weary of using synthetic oil, but if you have a lower mileage vehicle I'm surprised that a dealership would recommend against it. Its good oil, and then engine has to work less with it so you get a slight increase in mileage.
