Hello,
My name is Jennifer, and my '95 4 Runner's name is Rocky. I traded my 71 VW bus for him earlier this month. It's not air cooled, so I feel like I am out of my element. I am moving to Colorado at the end of May, and needed a car that could handle the Winters better.
I'm a fan of do as much of the work on my cars as I can. However, since I got Rocky I have had a new windshield and muffler put in by shops. Muffler guy said I need a new idler arm, so i ordered the part for me to instal it myself. I am pretty good at doing auto work. It took me all day, but I changed all 4 bakes. I think some one drove him in salt water cuz the pads were rusted in there on the front wheels. Had to replace the brake pins as well. So I am fairly confident that I can replace the idler arm. Though I would love some pointers.
I think I have my work cut out for me as far as parts and body ( brakes were not the only thing rusted). Luckily my VW gave me some practice at stoping, and fixing rust on the body.
Any ways, I have only so long to get Rocky to pass inspection, and am really not sure what I am doing, but I'm a fast learner. Can't wait till I can hit the trails in the Rockies, with Rocky.
