Hello w/ a few questions

Hey everyone, I recently purchased an 04 LTD V8 with 60k in miles and so far I love it. I'm a previous BMW owner and so far I'm enjoying the Yota. I do have two questions that I can't seem to find answers for in a search.

1. When backing up and turning the steering wheel either left or right I get a noticeable vibration coming from the front end - not through the steering column of brake pedal.

2. I'm almost positive from my research that the LTD come with Illuminated running boards - at least mine has them. I have to replace a socket for the bulb on one of my rb's because one of the wires was broke and is too short to fix with a pigtail. Any ideas where I may find one? I've searched on here and at Napa but can't fond one.

So far I'm loving being in a truck again....can't wait to do a little off-roading; anybody on here from KS?

Welcome! Wish I could offer more help on your issues. Do know the F&R driveshafts have grease fitting and maybe they need attention. DO NOT overfill the rear driveshaft slip-joint.

1. The V8 models have the transfer case in two speeds. 4HI, and 4LO. The normal driving should be done in 4HI, which is basically like an AWD system where all 4 wheels are moving the vehicle. Now when you turn in either reverse or moving forward, the two front wheels are turning at different speeds and since they are pulling the vehicle, you will get what I believe is know as a "crow hope." This is normal. Or it could be what CJ3Flyr said but I think that it is just your front wheels pulling at different speeds.

2. Im sure any auto parts store would have them or any electrial store. Otherwise I guess if all else fails, go to the dealership.

Ahhh, thanks for that explanation on the transfer case. As for going to the dealership I've already been and they were no help; I thought I might try a junk yard.

How do you know it's fully greased ? Are you saying not to grease until you see the grease coming out like you would on a regular zirk ?

No problem. I was kinda worried when it first happened on my explorer but I didnt care because it was an explorer. BTW I need to correct myself. The term is a "crow hop." LOL, no problem I understood. I've got a lot of reading/learning to do about the Runner; but I'm loving it more and more everyday.
