HELP! 4runner starts then dies immediately

Hi guys my 86 4runner turbo ran fine yesterday and today I went to start it and it started but died immediately, started it again and died immediately. I keept trying it flooring the gas pedal made it not start at all. Trying to rev it right after it would start had no effect it would die immediately. Now there have been times when I would start it and the idle seemed like it would fall and stall but opening the throttle would clear that up, it didn't happen often but I'm guessing now that may have been a warning sign. I've checked the efi relay and the open circuit relay. I'm looking through the fuel section of the Haynes manual and I'm suspecting the AIR VALVE, or I thought it could be the fuel filter but starting fluid didn't help. Help me out I need your experience!

Today I checked it with a spark detector and it has a spark. I checked the MAF with an ohm meter and it's all with in specs of what the manual states.
Any ideas?

Im having a similar issue with my 4runner, try the tps if you have one and the check the distributor cap rotor and if nothing, then try ecm
I've had a problem with the PTS before, I found that the engine ran fine with out one connected it was the transmission that was shifting hard. How would I check the ECM?

About the timing I'm unfamiliar as to how to check the timing chain on the 4runner because all the cars I've ever owned had timing belts. But I'll do a quick check of the distributor timing, What about the distributor internals, it's just magnets and such can those mess up?

I'm definitively getting gas and spark, are the distributor on the 79-86 has and air gap in the magnetic pick up that is adjustable, anyone have any experience with that?
