Help! 86k miles- Should I buy??

I am new here and I need some advice. Looking at a 2008 4runner limited V8 with 86k miles. Ive never owned one but have a 2001 Tacoma so I know Toyotas are dependable. Can anyone tell me if this is a wise decision. What price is reasonable and what se4vice should I be asking g about that's been done. Carfax says 1 owner and had regular oil changes. At 80k, they had systems flushed. That's all the work it shows on it. Any thoughts on this will be appreciated. Have to make decision in next few days. Thank you!

80K miles is nothing, that's not even broken in yet! The 2004 model I just bought last year has 144K miles and still looks and runs like new. I don't know why anything needed to be flushed but that might be a red flag. I'd look it over closely or have a good mechanic look at it to see if there are any problems. What price is reasonable depends on what they are selling others for in you area and the condition it's in. Does it need new tires, a battery or windshield? You can check the Auto Trader and Craig's List to get an idea of prices but be careful about using Craig's List since a lot of ads for vehicles are fakes listed with unusually low prices. A 4Runner in good shape will generally list for about 80% more than a comparable Ford Explorer, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Nissan Xterra, Chevy Trail Blazer or Isuzu Trooper but it doesn't have a lot of recalls or tons of consumer complaints like they do.

86K is not bad at all for a 2008. Not the best, but Toyota's run and run and run, so I don't think that would be a worry.

At this point I would consider the wear and tear on the car. That can give you clue's about the car.

A systems flush could mean there were problems. However, check out the owner's manual to see when they recommend a systems flush. If it was done at the appropriate time, then I think you had a guy or gal who really took care of that car. An owner who pays attention to those kinds of details is the person you want to buy a car from.
