i have a 87 4runner and it has been getting bad mpg changed the plugs and wires and cap( did not change the rotor) found today the it is leaking gas at the first injector, have not looked at the others yet. I am wondering where I can get o-rings and or if I should just have them all cleaned( which may do anyways) I am asuming that you would not get them (orings)by having RCengineering clean the plugs parts store said I had to buy the injector to get rings and was hoping to find them somewhere cheaper than the dealer

also I need to know how to get the injector out, I have never done it before, and special tools needed

Gas is just dripping out of the first injector when I first turn off the engine

also I was wondering if there is a good way to lube up the cabe for my E-Brake, it is sticking and smells like burning rubber, cant get it un-stuck sometimes.
thanks in advance

Hi, are you talking about the o-ring at the top of the injector or at the bottom? If you are talking about the one it sits in, those come in any head rebuild set. Mine is a 22r and the o-rings came with it, so i have them and if i can find one in an envelope ill sell ya one for a dollar.

As for removing, check the service manual, i have a carb'd car so i cant describe without looking at it myself..

I sent my turbo injectors to witchhunter, they sent me back all the o-rings needed to install them back into the fuel rail. You don't need any special tools to remove and install the injectors, you just need to remove the upper plenum. Be carefull when you reinstall them, make sure they are in there straight and that you can rotate the injector easily without binding up.

ok, thanks for help i found that 1 of stores here does have a inject sal kit, now i have not taken it apart yet but it is just drippin gas from first injrctor just after turing off engine i was assuming it was bottom oring what do u guys think could be that more flat wide one that sits up a little higher on the injector

apparently been doing this for awhile cause old gas all over the engine
do u have both the oring and not sure if it is called the grommet?

puttin injector in

put gas around the oring when i reinstall right? or something else like vasoline i heard cleaner but i know that has detergent in it and that make rubber go bad sooner

I would get both the lower O-ring and the grommet that sits in the manifold (dealership if you have to), you might as well do all 4 while you are in there. This is a job that is tops on my to do list but I am waiting to get a new head so I can roll it all into one. You can use gas to lubricate the o-rings, I have used a thin coat of motor oil before but I much prefer to use gasoline now.

I have an on-and-off leak between the first injector and the fuel rail, and after replacing the o-ring 5-6 times, I gave up. Any leaks when the engine is off will be from the back o-ring between the rail and the injector.

While you're taking them out, send them in to have them cleaned and balanced.

You can get the rings at car-quest or weaver, so I imagine you can get them anywhere.

If you find out the secret to stopping the leak, let me know!

Yea mine also leaked I am an old school engine builder and NEVER used gas as a lube for the o-rings or any type of rubber replacement. I am NOT saying that this is wrong I just was not taught that way. I use assembly lube for rubber, common in rebuilding brake calipers(kragen/checkers $2.50 a 12.5 oz bottle). I have not had any leaks doing it this way. Be sure that both the top and bottom rings are fully seated in the grooves andare not twisted, Also be sure to get all the grooves clean on the injector, the fuel rail and in the manifold. This is a primary cause for failer later. A little time cleaning now will save a head ach or worse later. I Cant stress enough that this is a dangerous situation and needs to be remedied right away. I would not want to see or read of a post were a fellow 4runner owner lost His/Her "Baby" :( I know I would be Totaly Bummed.
