HELP! '97 4Runner rattle

As luck would have it, as it does about tax return time every year for me... my T4R has developed a rattle that I cannot seem to locate. It is definitely OUTside the vehicle. I have checked everything from the spare tire to the exhaust, skid plate, cat converter, muffler, everthing I can think of that I could grab and shake. Still can't locate it. It only happens on bumpy roads, which there are a ton of here in STL. It sounds to me like metal on metal, other than the noise it operates perfectly. Any and all input is greatly apprecaited. Thanks in advance. I'm a newbie here so please try not to make too much fun of me for being a dummy. Preshadit.

mine has a squeek come and go. Maybe I can strap a bud to a running board and see what it is ha ha.

Still totally dumbfounded... I hate to take the thing somewhere and get the old ream job, but its become an obsession and I can't figger out what the heck is rattlin.
