Help: 97 Failed Smog due to high NOx at 15mph, now what?

Went to the smog station for my retest and it PASSED! What a relief.

Same thing happened to me but I went with premium gas n addition to the rest.

I had P0430 code in my 100 series cruiser and it is the catalytic converter. Cure is to add a gallon of lacquer thinner to 10 gallons of gas and drive 100+ miles at high rpm (2000-3000).
No more codes and that is what Scotty Kilmer recommended. Take a look at his video about clearing CAT and read reviews. Everyone got positive results including me.

Just make sure to dilute the lacquer thinner with 3-4 gallonsof gas BEFORE pouring it into the tank (just to prevent 100% thinner damaging rubber hose between the tank and the fill cap)

The active metals, Pd, Ir, Rh and Pt are good catalysts and used in so many reactions in the world of chemistry (I've used those in my graduate studies) . Those metals don't degrade but with burned oil and carbon it could by coating a thin layer above the metal preventing its function as a catalyst. Lacquer thinner will remove that coating exposing the metal again!

In addition, you get fuel injectors, combustion chamber, intake valves, etc cleaned!

I saw the Scotty Kilmer video on it but didn't try it. Maybe the the next time in 2021.

Sorry, I meant in addition to all the other things. I'm not sure which one or combination of things worked but it was better than a new cat. They specifically asked me what I did because if I said I changed the cat they would have to inspect it to make sure it is an "approved" CA cat, which probably means it's double the price. If you changed it before you went in they would never check.
I think I was 5 or 6 ppm over NOX then cleared it by ~45 ppm after

My 4Runner almost failed 2 years ago and I had to test it again this year. I used this product: https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p...2WxV-bYjcOsCWHi8Kh4aAi_VEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds. It passed with flying colors. It's worth a try for sure, beats $240+ for a new cat.

CRC is good stuff. I've been using it since the late 90s after failing a test due to a bad cat. I've used it before every test with any higher milage vehicle I've owned since then and its worked every time.
