Help! 99 Center Console mod in progress, the car would not move now:nono:

Hi guys,

I have a 98, and I was almost done with the center console mod, but when I put the e brake assembly back together to test, I cant get the car to budge & when I put the shifter in park it also makes a sound, there r no lights on the dash

Can you jam the parking brakes somehow, I moved the two nuts all the way up thinking that may be I went too far down but no go

My only guess is that maybe you've accidentally disconnected one the connections (underneath of the center console) going to the shifter, but thats really just a guess.

Well, first thing is to figure out if it is the e-brake (which works on the rear drums) or the parking pawl (which is inside the slushbox) that is immobilizing the truck. I'd give a pull on the e-brake linkage cable that goes from wheel to wheel across the rear diff. If it's loose, then the problem is with the shifter linkage. If it's tight, then trace the cable back to the e-brake handle and see where the problem is.

Get that resolved, and maybe you'll find your electric problem.

thanks guys but I finally got it, for some reason the 4WD shifter was stuck in N, I had to completely take the spin nuts on the e brake off, then put in park and suddenly it shifted in 4H..., :happens:

this mod is worth it but it took me a long time....The console is kinda in, but I still have to connect the rear heater, and adjust the silver bracket further.......
