Help a NEW guy out! Advice??

I finally have saved enough to buy my first T4R, 3rd gen that is. Been searchin for "the one" for months now but only 4runners I'm my price range our out gonna be in the 180k+ mileage possibly higher. as a first time buyer can anyone give me a list on things to check or inspect on the vehicle that I need to to make sure I'm buying a well maintained 4runner?! I know the obvious, oil, trams fluid, leaks. but are there any tricks to making sure your gettin a good used 4runner? Pleasee, help a new guy out!

oh and I'm lookin for a 99-00' sr5 or limited 3.4L.

ps. I've read ripcords buyers guide, but I need something's I can check on the spot as I'm about to purchase.

The sticky you referenced is very informative. As far as mileage, these vehicles can go to 300,000 and above if properly cared for. So, since you seeing high mileage vehicles, other than the sticky info, I would get a Carfax and buy from a dealer. Its one way to have some idea of how the vehicle may have been maintained. That's my opinion from my personal experience.
