HELP - Accidentally added T-IV to Dexron III

T-I, T-II, T-III and T-IV are backwards compatible with Dex III, you should be fine.

I switched to Valvoline MaxLife DEX/MERC (was cheaper than Mobil 1) which in the fine print says Toyota Type T-I, TIII and T-IV compatible, and so do lots of other ATFs out there today.

There are internet references to a TSB referencing T-IV as the preferred fluid for many other Toyota cars that initially called for DEX II/III like our dipsticks do. I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

Thanks for double checking this, I got nervous for a minute because I've been running Dex III since replacing the transmission last year and I had a slip in 1st gear taking off from a red light today. Still not sure what the slip was all about but I can rest easier about the fluid type now.

I think I'll flush out the Dex III and put in the Type IV as a precaution and maybe throw in a quart of Lucas Fix, I have both in the garage on the shelf may as well use it.

There is no IV Dex anymore. It's now Dex 6.
