Help!! Anybody who has kids please....

just to add in my .02$, Congrats to you also, I got a 2 year old and another on the way....personally, I'd have to echo Baba Booey in that I got "On Becoming Baby Wise" 4 months after my first born and I immediately wished I had read the damn book before she had been born.

Didn't care for the pushing of religious overtones in the book but there are some very good techniques given and sound reasoning to back it up...and after putting em to practice, the end result was pretty amazing.....I recommended the book series to all my buds who also had kids within the year...those that applied those techniques also had positive results.....

Im re-reading the series again in preparation for my #2 in 2 months......Good Luck and Congrats again.....

I don't want to sound like a butthole or a know-it-all but, this isn't just a baby problem but also a parent problem. You need to decide that you're in charge and set the rules. If all is well, baby is fed, burped, dry, and warm, and still chooses to cry then let him cry. I'm not saying you should just turn up the TV and ignore him, but just step into the next room and let him cry. If he's still crying then he's still breathing.

As time goes by it will get easier, but you have to step up and be the parent now. You can't control all your childs actions but you can set the rules. Work out the formula/gas issues and assuming your child is healthy, put your child on a scedule and stick to it.

If you don't set the rules now, it becomes impossible to do it later.
If your baby can manipulate you into coming into the room by crying then he will do it. And then when he's older and can get a toy by screaming in the store then he'll do it.

I'm not trying to brag but we did this with our children and we've been told several times by strangers that we have the best behaved kids they've ever seen. And you don't have to dictate every detail of your child's life either. My kids have all the freedom in the world inside the bounds of the rules and good manners.

I understand that being a new parent is a learning experience, and I wish you the best. The bottom line is ... IT WILL GET BETTER!!!!

Guess what guys. Turns out it's been the formula all along. I switched from Simalac to Good Start and the difference was like night and day. He sleeps throughout the night now, only waking up for his feedings 2-3 times. And durring the day he doesn't fuss no more. Before he would fuss all day long and wouldnt take any naps. Now he's been taking 2 naps a day, 1-1.5 hrs long.

I guess I dont have to let him "cry it out" afterall. :D

Good to hear! My son wouldn't stop crying one night because of gas, and we just had to stay up all night with him and work it out. My pediatrician showed me 'excercises' you can with your child do to get the gas out faster, when we called the next day. The next episode we were able to get it under control in a couple of hours.
