Okay so, this has been driving me absolutely insane and I cannot find solution to this issue.ive tried looking through threads on here but can’t seem to find any threads like mine.First off, 96 sr5. rear window, defrost, and wiper not working(well most of the time)but fluid works. . It used to work until one cold winter when it randomly stopped working(seems Like the cold weather causes it to happen more often). I’ve tried, the window lock button(obviously), the rear wiper being in place, holding window up for 15 sec then down for 15 sec, checked to make sure the window motor works, inspected all the wiring going from the body to the tailgate. One thing I notice is that every time I press window down I can hear a clicking coming from the main big relay(mini circuit board of resistors and relays) on the black panel on the rear hatch. Also, I should mention that if it randomly does start to work(for a short while), I will be driving with it down then it will randomly roll up on its own. I went to the wrecker and replaced that big relay with another one and that didn’t solve the issue. Can anyone help me, it’s been a year since this first started and I would be so grateful to anyone who can help me figure this out.
Thanks, everyone

OK so the window, the defrost, and the wiper all don't work? Have you verified the window won't work using the key on the rear gate? We'll need to check a few things, but this being a 96, it is both easier and more difficult. Easier because there is no serial data cable to the body ECU. More difficult because we need TheDurk (El Durko) to post the EWD since I don't have it for that year.
I know you said you inspected the wiring, did you pull the boot and look inside the roof panel area? Might need to pull the inside trim panel too.
Also, why do you say you checked to see if the motor works? Does the window work?

Your @mention is my command, esteemed IBall.

I think OP needs to go through all the tests in the Service Hints section on last page of the attached. I bet one of them is a fail, and almost any one of them will mess up your window function. So grab a meter and have at it.

Yes they all don’t work but fluid always does. It doesn’t roll down with the key either, still can just hear that module/relay clicking when I try. But no I haven’t pulled back the inside trim to look at the wiring under there, from threads I’ve read the wires crack in the spots where they bend. But I’ll pull back the trim to make sure. And I checked the window motor right after the first time it happened, before I realized the wiper and defrost were out aswell. Figured I would just mention it so someone wouldn’t suggest it.

Thanks for the reply
