Help! Burned wire harness on fuel tank !!!

All,

Problem, wire harness to fuel pump and sending unit burned up under the back seat on top of the fuel tank. The connector in the tank to the sending unit was melted. Safety issue??? Also, wire from sending unit was fried all the way back through the main wireing harness to the dash!!!

So, the dealer on Saturday said the wiring harness is "no longer available"!!!

Any ideas what caused this?

I have completely disassembled the dash (what a mess) and am trying to check all the other wires for damage (inch by inch).

I thought about parting out the vehicle, but I've decided I can save her.

Any ideas what caused this?

ive got a '98 limited. mine did the same thing. dont konw what caused it. i just yanked the harness of my parts truck and fixed it.

90 runner harness woes

having similar problem with 90 runner, keeps popping efi fuse and burns wire in fusebox. seems like positive-to-ground somewhere. thought about parting out but i just put new mudders and new parts on her, i need her for the upcoming snow season. any suggestions besides going through all wires associated with efi fuse circuit?
