Was thinking of buying this REDUCED: 1995 4runner was wondering what you guys thought of it and if you prefer 1st or 2nd gen runners. Cheers.

1st gens are good for single guys or people with money and space for a weekend vehicle. the 2nd gens are good daily drivers and family wagons sense they are 4 door.
the truck sounds ok mileage is lower for the price if the frame is solid then its ok if not they price gets cut in half.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I figure OP got the info they needed by now. I was looking to buy a 1st gen 4 runner as well. I'm looking at using it for a hunting vehicle that I could still drive on the road as a backup for my truck. I wouldn't be doing any crazy offroading like rock crawling, but I do get pretty carried away when scouting. So my big question is should I get a solid axle runner or ifs? I live in Texas and there's lots of pigs here which means roads and pastures are all rutted up. So my goal is to get the smoothest of the 2. So I would imagine a ifs would be better, but lifting seems to be much more complicated and costly. Also I would loose some simplicity that a solid axle offers. What do y'all think?
Unless you are doing serious rock-crawling, I'd go with IFS. Put some good AT 31's or 33's on it and don't worry about a lift. These old 1st and 2nd gens have more clearance stock than later models with a 3" lift. Texas is a big state, and I'm guessing you'll be doing a lot of highway miles at 70+ mph just getting to your hunting grounds. The IFS will be significantly smoother and more stable for that.

Not trying to thread jack, IÂ’m new here and it wonÂ’t allow me to post a thread with my questions. If anyone can point me in the direction to post my questions in the proper place it would be much appreciated!
My question is IÂ’m looking at a 93 4runner in my area itÂ’s a 93 sr5 3.0 4x4 auto. It came from Washington state and is in pristine condition inside and out. It blew me away how clean it is, everything works. They are asking 10k for this thing and I donÂ’t know if IÂ’m crazy for considering it. ItÂ’s got 128k on the clock and had paperwork for a new engine and transmission with 5k on them. CouldnÂ’t get a clear answer as to why itÂ’s been rebuilt but needless to say they have the documents to prove it. ItÂ’s got a clean title. I know about the head gasket issues but if it goes out, is it still covered under Toyotas recall for the issue? Again sorry not trying to thread jack I just need to see what the experienced people have to say because if I do it I need to pull the trigger by Saturday 11/6/21 as IÂ’m to busy with work to do it any other time.

As someone who has always had IFS 4Runners, I just bought my 1st Solid Axle version ('84). It doesn't drive as straight as my '89 IFS 1st Gen. The darn thing is down right scary at 75mph. My '89 has stock suspension and fits 31x10.5R15" MT tires without any rub. I had the same wheels and tires on my 3rd Gen and had to lift and cut plastic on her. You just can't beat the 1st Gen's though. In fact, you could buy my '89 LOL
Thanks for the advise y'all. Yeah y'all are right, I'd like to drive fast so I'd like it to handle highway speeds as well as possible and no, not too many rocks in my neck of the woods. Just lots of mud and steep creek banks. Don't think I have the guts for rock crawling lol. Bikeric, matter in fact, I'll probably be looking a lot more seriously for one really soon. Are you located in Texas?
