Help! Can't fix temp overshooting

88 22re with brand new motor. Got a temp overshooting condition that only happens with heater valve open. I tried installing the TSB recommended dual stage thermostat and it still happens. What now? I don't like my new motor overheating at all, even if just for a minute.

check to make sure hoses are correctly routed with the valve open you may be blocking something you need to be open.

My rock crawler has always done that even when it was my daily driver... I wish I could say I figured it out. It hasn't happened since I removed the heater core.... Thats not a great solution for you sorry

It does come back down to normal within a minute. It just bothers me. You don't think I am causing any kind of real long term problems? I just spend good coin on this new motor and cut no corners. I really want it to last. The odd thing is that this never happened with the original motor. Not sure why the new one would cause this to happen.
