I'm replacing my tires (show pics later), but I can't get my rear wheel off. got all the lug nuts off, but the wheel won't come off. Is there some other locking hub or whatnot on there? Anything I can try?
Thanks in advance!

if you haven't taken the wheel off in a while, it can grow attached to the outside of the drum. you can try to spray WD40 through the wheel where the inside of the wheel contacts the drum....let it sit and try to work it loose (make sure you're jacked up on a stable surface and you have a back up cause you can easily jiggle it of the jack). or if you're inpatient.....smack the inside of the wheel with a small piece of 2x4 and a hammer.

Be careful not to kick your truck off the jack stands!!! Pretty common for them to get stuck on the hub. A small sledge to the back of the tire will work. Be careful not to hit the rim.

Use your fist or a rubber mallet & hit the sidewall of the tire...that works for me.

If that doesn't work...put all the lug nuts somewhat back on, then go underneath the vehicle, facing the back of the wheel & kick the sidewall. Turn the wheel & kick a different part of the sidewall.

That should work...I think some members put WD40 or anti-seize grease on the hub before putting the wheel back on.

Grab a sledge hammer and gently hit the sidewall at 12 and 6 oclock. This freed mine off after 3 taps. Dont hit the rim.

yeah a rubber mallet for the rear, if this happens on the front just turn your wheel and kick the inside, that's worked for me.

then go underneath the vehicle, facing the back of the wheel & kick the sidewall..

DO NOT GET UNDER THE VEHICLE WHILE HITTING THAT WHEEL!! IF IT SHOULD FALL OFF THE JACK, YOU COULD BE A DEAD MAN!

Here's an old tip, that my dad taught me...he used to be a transport tire technician....

With the lug nuts off, and the truck secured on jack stands, stand in front of the wheel and put your back to the truck. Then give it a couple of donkey kicks with your heel to the tire, and that should free it up. Works for me everytime, and no chance of hitting the rim with a foreign object.

:thanks:
Thanks everyone! Some nice WD-40 and a hammer n' piece of wood and it came off. It was the only wheel in the air, and it was held up with a jack stand, not the floor jack. I've never had a wheel stick so stubbornly, so I greatly appreciate the help!

I'll post some pics when I get a chance of the new wheels. If you saw one of my recent posts you'll know what type of wheels...

A trick I have used is to loosen the lug nuts and drive around the parking lot--low speed, but abrupt turns and braking. Usually does the job. I only ever have to do it once to any car, because the first time I have the wheels off I slather anti-seize on the mating surfaces.

Rubber mallet to the rear should do the trick. I'd be careful with driving with loose bolts. It could mess-up the studs.

Not really, as long as you don't loosen them TOO much. There is no way the wheel contacts the stud, unless you really back off the nut or keep driving it way after you break the wheel loose, which is hard to do in a parking lot. It's accepted practice on my BMW e23 board (80's 7-series).
