Help: Cornfed Rear Spacer + AirLift Bags

Tried doing a self install today and failed. Do all rear spacers use a screw to attach it to the bump stops?

I was trying to install an Air Lift 1000 (60804) bag kit today and when I was cutting away the bump stops, hit the screw that I forgot was there when the Cornfed 1in rear spacer was installed years ago (local garage installed the spacer for me).

The newer 60804 kit instructions actually have been updated for the 5th Gen (finally) and want you to install the bag with the air nipple up after cutting away four sections of the bump stop. Spacer screw is now in the way of the airline obviously.

Even if I installed the bag nipple down, after cutting away four sections, the screw would be exposed and would puncture the bag. Do I still need the screw?

I don't think you need it. Upward pressure from the springs holds everything in place once installed. I have a 15mm Poly coil spacer in the rear to correct for driver side lean and there's not even a place for a screw.

I cant believe you posted this thread. I was looking last week to see if anyone had this issue as I'm about to do the exact same setup and was wondering about that screw. I installed my bags last year, but was only able to cut off 3 rungs of the bump since I didn't remove the coils during install. I was going to cut off the 4th when I was in there doing the spacers because it's definitely riding a little harder than it used to even with only a couple psi in them (you can see the bump is pushing on the air bag from the top). I also was concerned it would pop the bag. I do have my air line pointed down already.

I was going to just omit the screw and cut the 4th rung. I've done a few spacers on my old jeeps and never had an issue with noise or anything. I figured it was the same.

Yeah, looks like I’m going to have to remove the coil, unscrew the spacer from the bump stop (and finishing cutting the bump stop while I have it out), and reinstall everything.

Loaded coil should hold everything in place easily I’m guessing. I was researching other spacers and looks like most of them don’t use screws (but some do reorder the stacking of the bump stop, spacer, and coil, respectively).

I’ve got Cornfed spacers and airbags installed together. I used a hacksaw to cut the screws shorter. Final length is just shy of being flush on the bottom of the bump stop. Nipple of the bag will need to be on the bottom, but I haven’t had any issues with them.
