Help! Corolla transmission oil..

So i was trying to change my corolla's engine oil this weekend and accidently drained the transmission oil also :bash: . I asked my dad where i need to fill the transmission oil up and he said at the same place the dip stick is at. is this right?!? also, is there a certain type of transmission oil i need to use? any help will be GREATLY appreciated. thanks.

edit: oh yea, and if it helps, its a 2002 auto.

ok i think i might have found the solution but hopefully someone can confirm, i dont want to screw this up:

-read thai's post about 'which transmission oil to use' (thanks thai) and then had the bright idea to look @ the owners manual. looks like its dexron III

yes transmissions are filled at the same location as the dipstick for them

the manual will tell you what type of oil to use and how much.


how do you accidently drain the transmission when chaniing the engine oil?

also you might want to ask on the corolla boards since they proably know a bit more about them than 4runner people

thanks ish. I've never changed the oil on the corolla before so the first bolt i saw that looked like the drain bolt, i went at it. after the oil started coming out i realized that i must have drained the wrong location because the oil color was different. anyhow, it was stupid of me to not have double checked first.
