ok my clutch fan in my 92 3vz-e v6 runner had to be taken off and i was told i still could drive around in it, so i was hunting and it started to get hot so i parked it and it was pretty much overheating, so i walked around until it cooled off and then when i started it up the muffler sounds weird as hell it used to sound really good now it sounds like it is skipping a note like brap brap ---- --- brap brap --- --- brap!!! what is going on?

lol i found the problem! one of the distributer caps fell off!

driving around without the clutch fan is just asking for a blown head gasket.

If you didn't need it, it wouldn't have come with one.

well he is my familys mechanic, and i knew it had to have one and i thought i was ok offroad so it was kinda my fault

If it overheated at all you can kiss your headgaskets goodbye. Especially in the 3.0 engine.

I hope your family mechanic is as cheap as he is good, the job usually runs about $2k for the guys that just put it in the shop to get it done.

Maybe he'll give you a break because it was his bad advice that helped cause it...?

You'll know in 500-1000 miles if the heads warped.

if you have blown a head......you can smell the anti freeze burning from the tail pipe and there will be a tanish foamy crap in side the oil cap.... ya it happened to me .weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee and ya it was about $2k

It will start idling bad or running rough, missing, smoke or steam out of the tailpipe and low power. When it starts missing you can do a compression check and see where it blew and confirm the problem.

You could be ok though. This is the worst case scenario we're talking about here...

so its ok, no smell from the muffler and no loss of power, its been about 200mi since it happened, and it really didnt overheat it almost did but i stopped befor it fully did
